Advancing Malaysia’s Role in the Regional Aerospace Ecosystem
The Business and General Aviation Association of Malaysia, BAGAM, actively participated in the Selangor Aerospace Summit 2025 (SAS 2025), reinforcing its commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s position within the regional and global aerospace landscape. Organised by Invest Selangor Berhad in collaboration with its dedicated aerospace division, Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-DAICO), the summit builds upon the strong foundation of the Selangor Aerospace Show and evolves into a broader ASEAN-centric platform. With more than 8,000 visitors attending the exhibition, SAS 2025 brought together global OEMs, regional industry leaders, and local SMEs across the aerospace value chain.
A Strategic Platform for Industry Collaboration
Positioned as a comprehensive aerospace and aviation event, SAS 2025 featured an integrated indoor exhibition and conference format, covering key sectors including aerospace and aviation manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), commercial aviation, business aviation, and emerging space technologies.
BAGAM’s presence at the summit, through its dedicated booth, was focused on fostering industry collaboration, supporting regional aviation development, and enhancing visibility for Malaysia’s business and general aviation community. The booth served as a key touchpoint for engagement, enabling BAGAM to connect with industry professionals, stakeholders, and aspiring aviation talent.
Driving Dialogue on Human Capital Development
A key highlight of BAGAM’s participation was its contribution to the Conference and Talks Programme. BAGAM was invited to present a session titled “Human Capital Powering Aviation: Opportunities and Future Trends”, addressing one of the most critical pillars of the industry’s long-term growth.
Moderated by Kenny Lam, the panel featured Major Rasaletchumi and Andy Yeap, all representing BAGAM. The session provided valuable insights into workforce development, future talent requirements, and the evolving skill sets needed to support a rapidly advancing aviation sector. The discussion resonated strongly with both industry participants and students, highlighting the importance of investing in human capital to sustain Malaysia’s aviation growth trajectory.
Strengthening Engagement Across the Industry
Throughout the four-day event, BAGAM engaged extensively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including aviation professionals, government representatives, and students exploring career opportunities within the sector. Reflecting on the event, BAGAM President Peter Tan noted, “This exhibition is quite productive for BAGAM. We managed to talk to many people from the aviation industry.”
The strong level of engagement not only facilitated meaningful industry connections but also contributed to raising awareness of BAGAM’s role and initiatives within the aviation community.
Supporting ASEAN’s Fast-Growing Aviation Market
With ASEAN projected to be one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally, SAS 2025 placed strong emphasis on key industry priorities, including talent development, sustainable aviation practices, digital transformation in manufacturing and MRO, and emerging aerospace technologies. As part of Selangor’s vision to position itself as the Gateway to ASEAN, the summit also encouraged dialogue on regional supply chain integration, cross-border investment opportunities, and public-private partnerships. These themes align closely with BAGAM’s mission to support a more connected, competitive, and forward-looking aviation ecosystem.
Building Momentum for the Future
BAGAM’s participation in SAS 2025 reflects its continued commitment to engaging with key industry platforms that drive collaboration and innovation. The event’s success in attracting strong participation and facilitating meaningful dialogue underscores its growing importance within the regional aerospace calendar. By connecting with industry professionals and the next generation of aviation talent, BAGAM continues to strengthen its role as a key industry voice, supporting the sustainable development of Malaysia’s business and general aviation sector.
