Strengthening Public-Private Engagement in the Aerospace Sector
The Business and General Aviation Association of Malaysia, BAGAM, was invited and participated in an exclusive hi tea networking session hosted by Invest Selangor Berhad, bringing together key aerospace industry stakeholders for a focused and strategic dialogue. The session, held in an intimate setting, provided a valuable platform for direct engagement with YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility. It reflects ongoing efforts by the Selangor State Government to strengthen collaboration with industry players and ensure alignment between policy direction and industry needs.
Facilitating Meaningful Industry Dialogue
The engagement session centred on open discussions surrounding the future of Selangor’s aerospace sector, particularly under the framework of Rancangan Selangor 2 (RS-2). Participants were invited to share insights, exchange perspectives, and explore opportunities that can support sustainable industry growth.
Key discussion areas included expansion strategies within the aerospace ecosystem, updates on the development of the Selangor Aero Park @ KLIA Aeropolis, as well as initiatives focused on talent development and reskilling. These themes are critical as the industry continues to evolve in response to technological advancements and shifting global dynamics.
Addressing Emerging Industry Challenges
In addition to growth opportunities, the session also addressed broader challenges impacting the aerospace sector, including the influence of geopolitical and geo-economic factors on business operations and investment decisions. Such discussions are increasingly relevant as aviation stakeholders navigate a complex global environment, requiring closer coordination between government and industry to maintain resilience and competitiveness.
BAGAM’s Role in Industry Representation
BAGAM’s participation in this engagement reflects its ongoing commitment to representing the interests of Malaysia’s business and general aviation community. By actively contributing to policy-level discussions and industry dialogues, BAGAM continues to serve as a bridge between stakeholders and decision-makers. The session also provided an opportunity for BAGAM to strengthen relationships with key government representatives and industry peers, reinforcing its role as a collaborative partner in shaping the future of the aviation sector.
While conducted in a more informal setting, the hi tea session underscored the importance of continuous engagement between the public and private sectors. Meaningful conversations, even in smaller forums, contribute significantly to building trust, exchanging ideas, and advancing shared objectives. As the general aviation sector continues to grow in importance within the regional economy, BAGAM remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote dialogue, collaboration, and long-term industry development.
