A Meaningful Initiative to Support the Next Generation
The Business and General Aviation Association of Malaysia, BAGAM, successfully organised its inaugural “Back to School” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, bringing together industry partners and sponsors to create a memorable and impactful experience for underprivileged children.
Held at the Dviation Group, KarbonMRO Hangar at Skypark RAC, the event welcomed 123 children from Pertubuhan Hopes, Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni, and Ozanam. The initiative reflects BAGAM’s commitment to nurturing the next generation by providing both practical support and meaningful encouragement as the children prepare for the new school year.
Creating a Day of Joy, Motivation and Discovery
The programme was thoughtfully designed to go beyond the distribution of school essentials, offering the children a day filled with excitement, engagement, and inspiration. Each child received a “back to school” goodie bag containing essential items such as uniforms, bags, shoes, and other necessities, helping to ease the financial burden while boosting confidence for the upcoming academic year.
Adding to the excitement, the event featured a series of memorable experiences, including a lucky draw in which children won unique opportunities, such as a ride on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a gyrocopter experience. The children were also given the chance to view aircraft up close, sparking curiosity and interest in aviation, alongside enjoying a festive atmosphere with meals and activities throughout the day.
Delivering Impact Through Collective Effort
The success of the event was made possible through strong collaboration across the aviation community. BAGAM led the initiative with support from a wide network of sponsors, including Dviation Group, Karbon MRO, Triangle Worldwide Sdn Bhd, Aerothon Sdn Bhd, Heaven MC Malaysia Chapter, JETBAY Air Charter Services Sdn Bhd, ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd, FTS Logistic Sdn Bhd, Golden Flying Dragons Business Consultancy, Aero SkyGloss Sdn Bhd, Party World Event, PrivateJets.my, and individual contributor Mr. Ng Yeow Meng.
The event was spearheaded by BAGAM’s CSR and Events Committee, Kanapuran Ramasamy, with Marcus Teoh serving as emcee, contributing to the lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.
A Lasting Impact Beyond the Event
The true success of the programme was reflected in the positive response from both the children and their guardians. Beyond the tangible support provided, the event delivered a strong message of encouragement and possibility.
Ms. Prema from Pertubuhan Hopes shared her appreciation to the BAGAM committees, “Hi Mindy, from the bottom of our hearts, we are truly grateful and thankful. This gift means so much to them. The children are genuinely motivated and excited, and it has lifted their spirits in a very meaningful way. After the event, I also had a brief session at the centre where I shared with them that these gifts are not just items, but a motivational drive for them to work hard, believe in themselves, and strive for success in life. This would not have happened without BAGAM. Wishing everyone good health always.” Her message reflects the deeper impact of the initiative, not just in providing essentials, but in inspiring confidence and hope for the future.
Strengthening Community Through Aviation
The programme also highlighted how the aviation industry can play a meaningful role in community development. By opening the hangar environment to the children and providing them with exposure to aircraft and aviation-related experiences, the event introduced new perspectives and possibilities. Such initiatives demonstrate how industry players can contribute beyond their core operations, using their platforms to create positive social impact.
The success of the “Back to School” CSR programme marks an important step in BAGAM’s commitment to community engagement. As the association continues to grow, similar initiatives are expected to play a key role in strengthening its social contribution while fostering closer collaboration within the industry. By bringing together stakeholders for a shared purpose, BAGAM not only supports those in need but also reinforces the values of unity, compassion, and responsibility within Malaysia’s aviation community.
